The last time I checked America was the land of the free and the home of the brave. Hollywood actress Stacey Dash was brave enough to post a picture of herself on Twitter, with the American flag in the background, saying "Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future."

It was her right to do so. She voiced her political choice for President of the United States. She is free to do that if she chooses. Well tick, tick, BOOM!

The tweet set off a firestorm of racially charged tweets that are laced with pure ignorance. Someone responded by saying "Kill yourself." Another said, "You poor beautiful idiot." Is it really necessary to voice so much hatred towards a person just because you don't share the same political views?

In Dash's opinion, Romney is the best candidate for the job. Opinion - everybody is entitled to their own opinion. You don't have to agree with it, but you should respect it. I believe the fact that she's an African-American played a part in the intensity of the "Twitterlash." There is a myth that all African-Americans are voting for President Obama. Well, Dash's tweet debunks that line of thought.

The truth is we live in a country where you should feel free to share your opinion without  fear of receiving incendiary messages that attack your character and physical well-being.

Let's keep things in perspective and keep a calm head. Respect differences, don't attack them. Voice your opinion by exercising your right to vote.

Enough said.
