CLEVELAND - Cleveland police have arrested a man on rape charges in connection with a missing 12-year-old girl found Wednesday morning.
The girl was reported missing on May 5 by her mother. The girl was under home detention and left home without permission -- even cutting off her ankle bracelet. She was found at about 3 a.m. outside of the Garden Valley Apartments at E. 79th and Kinsman.
Police said investigators obtained information that led them to Michael Hudson, who is a seasonal employee for the city of Cleveland’s Parks, Recreation and Properties Department. He allegedly had a relationship with the girl and had been keeping her at his home since she ran away. He was picked up on Aetna Avenue.
Officers said Hudson hasn't shown up to work for the last month.
On Friday, Hudson was charged with one count of rape. His next court appearance is Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
The 12-year-old was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital to be examined.
