MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio - A memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Monday to honor Kayla Allen. The 10-year-old Strongsville girl died more than a month after she was shot by her father at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Brooklyn.
Friends and family can pay their respects at Grace Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 7393 Pearl Rd. in Middleburg Heights.
Kayla had been hospitalized since the April 12 shootings that killed her mother, Kate, and younger sister Kerri. Police shot and killed her father, Kevin Allen, after shooting his wife and daughters.
Donations are also being collected Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Applebee's restaurants in Strongsville and Westgate Plaza (Rocky River). Proceeds will benefit the Berea Animal Shelter and the Domestic Violence Center of Greater Cleveland.
