MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio - Charges have now been filed against a man accused of killing his grandparents in their Maple Heights home.
Denny Obermiller, 28, has been charged with aggravated murder, kidnapping, attempted aggravated arson, attempted tampering with evidence and theft.
Cuyahoga County prosecutors said Obermiller strangled his grandparents, Donald and Candice Schneider, then left candles burning and the kitchen stove turned on, in an attempt to cover up the evidence.
Maple Heights police were called to the Schneider’s home on Thomas Street on Saturday, when their granddaughter couldn’t reach them and that's when police discovered their bodies.
Obermiller was arrested in Licking County on Sunday. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 20.
