Leads come in on puppy stolen from Elyria pet store

ELYRIA, Ohio - Elyria police need your help in tracking down the canine culprit who stole a miniature Yorkshire Terrier from a pet store on North Abbe Road.

Surveillance video showed a man carrying the puppy under his coat.

The guy in the back has the dog, he is holding him," said Best-In Pets store owner, Greg Kiesner.

Elyria police said two men walked into the store Friday afternoon and walked out with the Yorkie.

Kiesner said the men came in, walked around and plucked the puppy from a petting area before walking out the door.

"I've been here 25 years and never had anyone steal a dog," said Kiesner.

The store is now installing even more sophisticated video cameras and keeping the puppies behind glass for their own safety. Tips are coming in about the stolen puppy.

The store owner is now offering a $200 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. If you have any information, you are asked to call the Elyria police at 440-323-3302.
