CLEVELAND - Former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora remains in a private prison in Youngstown five months after being sentenced to 28 years in prison on corruption charges.

A federal judge ordered Dimora to serve his sentence at the Butner Federal Correctional Complex in North Carolina, but he remains in a cell at the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center in Youngstown -- a privately managed prison operated by Correctional Corporation of America.

A spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that a posting on its prison website indicating that Dimora is "not in Bureau of Prison Custody" refers only to the privately run prison in Youngstown not being part of the federal bureau of prison system.

Dimora's attorney, Christian Grostic, confirms that Dimora remains at the Youngstown prison awaiting transfer to the federal prison in North Carolina.
