Cleveland - Marine Corporal Cory Szucs was on patrol in Afghanistan when a roadside bomb exploded. He does not remember the accident . He severely injured his leg, among other injuries.
They could not save his leg.
Cory has maintained a positive attitude during the many months of rigorous rehab, saying that a close knit family and plenty of friends are his inspiration to work harder.
He said his support group is so strong that it makes it easy for him to want to fight through the challenges.
As for throwing out the first pitch, he had been practicing, and said he was going with the slider. As friends and family looked on, he unleashed a mighty pitch.
Cory has another year of rehab. After that, he plans on going back to school and get into some type of law enforcement.
That's Cory--always wanting to help someone.
