BRUNSWICK, Ohio - The holiday season is still more than five months away, but the city of Brunswick is already talking about trimming its annual lighting budget.
Snowflakes typically line the streetlamps in the city during December. Park and recreation officials said 23 of the 99 electric boxes needed to power the lights are broken.
The cost to fix them is almost $6,000 and the cost to repair some of the broken snowflakes is $3,500. City council members said that's just too much.
Brunswick has struggled in years past with the cost of holiday decorations, but each time a donor has stepped in.
Two years ago, Medical Mutual donated $10,000 to the city for christmas lights and the city leaders are hoping for another Christmas miracle this year.
