Gas prices increase 6 cents from last week

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio gas prices are higher at the start of 2012.
Monday's survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express put the statewide average price for regular gasoline at $3.38 per gallon, up 6 cents from last week. Also, gas in Ohio costs 15 cents more than it did a month ago. And, it's 26 cents more expensive than it was last year at this time, when regular was averaging $3.12.
Still, the current pump prices are down considerably from the state's all-time high of about $4.16 for regular, reached last May 4. The U.S. Energy Demand says demand for gasoline dropped by 2.5 percent nationwide during 2011, partly due to high prices.
Analysts expect gas to rise to $4 a gallon again by spring.
