SHEFFIELD LAKE, Ohio - Officer James Kerstetter of the Elyria Police Department was killed in the line of duty a little over one month ago.
While the community was wondering how to assist the officer's wife and three children, one person has stepped forward.
Karl Guenther, a friend of Misty Kerstetter, has spent hours organizing a steak fry fundraiser and selling memorial bracelets for the officers family.
The steak fry will be held on May 15 at Breezewood Party Center in Sheffield Village. Food will be served from 4:30 untill 7:30 p.m. Gift baskets, gift certificates and other items have been donated and will be auctioned off.
All of the money receivedĀ at this fundraiser will go directly to the Kerstetter family.
If you wish to make a donation orĀ purchase a commemorative wristband, contact Karl Guenther at 440-240-3573.
