AVON, Ohio - If you enjoy getting fresh air and spending time with the family, what better way to accomplish both than to head out to Fitch's in Avon.

Fresh tomatoes and peppers are ready for the picking. All you need is a little time and maybe a little bit of help and in no time you can have bushels of fresh vegetables.

Canning season is upon us or you can just as easily fill the freezer and have that freshness set for the winter months.

With food prices rising, you can count on these vegetables being the same as last year. In fact they have not raised their prices in three years.

For George Kopasakis and his family, it is a great way to get the family together and teach their two daughters the value of picking your own food. Kopasakis said hopefully this tradition will pass down as his daughters get older.

Picking season will be in full swing until November.

The Italian roma tomato will be ready for the picking around Labor Day weekend.

To satisfy your need for crisp melons, cantaloupe and water melon are in season as well.
