CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio - No one was hurt in a fire that gutted a home in Geauga County on Tuesday.
The fire broke out at about 2:30 p.m. on Pineacres Lane in Chester Township.
Firefighters said the homeowner and her dog were able to get out safely. According to investigators, crews are still trying to account for more than 25 cats that were also in the home.
The Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary was also located on this property and there were more than 100 cats on the property in multiple structures. There were animals inside the home that burned on the property. They are not sure whether any animals perished in the fire.
There was significant damage to the inside of the home.
Firefighters are still trying to figure out what caused the fire.
