CATAWBA ISLAND, Ohio - A sure sign of spring for residents of Catawba Island, Put-in-Bay and Middle Bass Island is the return of regular ferry service on the Miller ferries across the waters of Lake Erie to these vacation destinations.
Twenty minutes after leaving the dock at Catawba, one can arrive at one of Ohio's most celebrated getaways.
Special events are held from early spring to late fall. From the spring pancake breakfast benefiting volunteer fire departments to the final Halloween at the bay costume party in late October, families have come here to taste the slower island life for decades.
Miller Boat Lines has been serving the Ohio islands for more than 100 years, providing a life line for residents and their vehicles as well as island businesses and their goods.
