JEFFERSON, Ohio - Authorities have ruled last week’s explosion in Ashtabula County as arson.

The blast happened on Thursday just before 7 a.m. on Black Sea Road in Jefferson and completely leveled the home.

The Division of State Fire Marshals is continuing the investigation into the explosion, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The home’s resident suffered a head injury, but no one else was injured.

The debris from the house smoldered for hours after the explosion and people as far away as three miles said they felt their homes shake.
