ELYRIA, Ohio - Two house fires in Elyria forced the fire department to recall all of their shifts just to get some help.
A vacant house on Foster Avenue collapsed during the fire while firefighters were on the scene.
Mutual aid from several local cities responded.
Fire officials that were not responding to that fire were at a house fire on Maple Street. Smoke billowed from roof of this vacant house. Crews had to bust through the windows and even cut holes in the roof. The flames were not that intense, but smoke could be seen for miles.
The Elyria Fire Department put out an all-call to the entire county asking anyone with available resources to respond.
The fires are now under control. There’s no word on what caused the fires. No injuries were reported.
