CLEVELAND - A Cleveland school received a makeover, all because of an extra day this year.
About 300 employees with Westlake-based Hyland Software came together Friday with HandsOn Northeast Ohio to transform the Margaret Ireland Elementary School.
Crews converged on the school along East 63rd Street for the massive clean-up project. Workers pitched in to paint classrooms, clean lockers and landscape in an effort to restore the school.
Every four years, Hyland participates in a "leap year campaign," using the extra day to encourage volunteerism in the community.
'I've had a lot of people do stuff for me in the past so it's nice to give something back to others, even if they might not know who i am, at least they'll be able to see our results', said Kristin Capiccioni, Senior Proposal Specialist with Hyland Software.
Margaret Ireland Elementary school is now part of an organization called Positive Education Program or "PEP." Founded in 1971, PEP is Greater Cleveland's largest non-profit agency committed to children.
Back in February, Hyland Software employees raised $75,000 to purchase education technology for the school.
