CLEVELAND - The Christmas season kicked off over the weekend with a tree lighting, Santa and fireworks at WinterFest on Public Square in Cleveland.
The cold weather didn't keep people from coming out to enjoy the festivities and singing.
In downtown Cleveland, NewsChannel5 was a proud sponsor for WinterFest on Public Square. Good Morning Cleveland anchor Macie Jepson hosted the event and the historic lighting ceremony.
Of course, the talk of the night was Santa Claus!
"I have been coming down since I was little," said one WinterFest-goer. "It's so awesome to come down to Cleveland, seeing the lights being lit and the tree is huge and Santa comes every year."
The night was capped with a huge fireworks display.
