CLEVELAND - G squared plus U circle equals a cross-town cultural exchange.

That's the equation behind holding the second annual 'Discover Gordon Square Arts District Day' on the same day as the well-known Parade the Circle event at University Circle.

Both celebrations of art and culture will take place this Saturday -- and numerous events are serving to connect the art communities on both the east and west sides of town.

The traditional festivities at Wade Oval are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., with hands-on crafts and activities for the whole family. The parade of floats and dancers and musicians kicks off at 12 noon. The event officially ends at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, at 10 a.m. in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood, free cartoons at the Capitol Theater and art displays begin the day. A full complement of overlapping activities is scheduled until 7 p.m. The day concludes with performances at the Cleveland Public Theater as late as 10 p.m.

Non-stop trolley service is being provided between the two locations from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
