CLEVELAND - Two men told police they were attacked by seven others Saturday night near Cleveland State University's campus while walking home from the gym.
It happened on E. 24th Street and Payne Avenue. A police report states the two men were jumped and robbed of their wallets and cellphones in a CSU parking lot.
The victims told authorities at least seven men on bicycles knocked them down, kicked and punched them repeatedly in the head before stealing their belongings.
One man was bleeding from a cut under his right eye; the other had a hurt right ankle. One of the victim's mothers flagged down officers to report the incident.
Descriptions of the suspects are vague, but Cleveland police detectives are following leads.
Officials at CSU sent an alert out about the incident to students. Statistically, school officials report crime is down at the campus and has been for the past five years.
