CLEVELAND - The new studio at NewsChannel 5 is complete and will debut Saturday night for the evening news cast after the NASCAR race.

Our new studio took 11 days to finish and is the first new set in 14 years.

Interestingly, this is actually the second time the new set was put together. The crew built it in five weeks ago at their shop in San Diego. They wanted to make sure everything fit correctly. They didn't want any surprises once it arrived in Cleveland. They disassembled it and shipped it off to northeast Ohio.

The task of assembling the set belongs to Osbaldo Perez and his two-man crew. They are from San Diego and work for BDI , Broadcast Design International, a firm that designs television studios. They worked 14 hours per day, over 10 days and a full 24 hour shift to get the job done.

Nineteen new TVs will be on display.

Two 72-inch monitors have been installed in the weather center. Our meteorologists will also have four 19-inch sets on the weather desk to look at.

Three big 83-inch TVs are directly behind the anchor desk. While delivering the news, all the anchors can glance down at one of four 15-inch sets build directly into the anchor desk.

Crews also hung more than 1,000 feet of LED lights.

"Pop lights" were also installed, which are the lights located above the three 83-inch flat screens behind the anchor desk and the two 72-inch flat screens in the weather center.

Be sure to tune in and check it out!
