Teen shot on Cleveland's east side, condition unknown

CLEVELAND - Cleveland police are investigating a shooting Tuesday morning in the 1400 block of E. 173rd St., near St. Clair Avenue.

According to authorities, officers were called out to the scene around 10 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound. EMS arrived and took him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim was visiting his 19-year-old friend who was playing with a gun when the weapon discharged.

A bullet struck the 17-year-old in the chest.

The 19-year-old was taken into custody and is cooperating with the investigation.

The victim's identity and condition are unknown at this time.
