CLEVELAND, Ohio - Northeast Ohio does not have the best reputation as a booming area for technology jobs.
But according to a new study from Business Week, Cleveland is the most robust city for tech jobs.
Cleveland has seen a 107 percent growth in technology jobs, according to the publication, and the companies hiring include IBM, Deloitte and Touche.
Technology jobs are a bright spot in an otherwise shaky economy, and Business Week said that 68 percent of companies in Cleveland are expecting to add tech staff in the coming year.
Also surprising is that Cleveland is followed on the list by Detroit and Cincinnati.
The industries that are hiring the most tech workers are retail, insurance, media, pharmaceutical, and financial services, according to Jack Cullen, president of Modis, an IT staffing and recruiting firm.
Here is the complete list:
1. Cleveland
2. Detroit
3. Cincinnati
4. Jacksonville, Fla.
5. Salt Lake City
6. Richmond, Va.
7. Miami
8. Tampa
9. Portland, Ore.
10. Pittsburgh
