Cleveland, OHIO - One of the catholic churches in the Cleveland Diocese slated to re-open this summer is looking a bit fresher.  Father Eric Orzech of St. Casimir Catholic Church said they have their treasure back and Thursday they shined-up that treasure as they get ready for the church's re-opening Mass on July 15.

Crews spent hours Thursday inside the church cleaning it from top to bottom, vacuuming carpets, polishing statues, dusting pews. Nothing was overlooked.

They want the church to look like new when the doors open for good a week from Sunday.

"You want the first impression to be a very good and lasting impression. The people love their church and they know if something is so," said Rev. Orzech. "The whole goal is to make that a non-issue, so they're not worried about what happened to this or that.  They are going to come in here rejoiced,  so what they are supposed to do in church pretty well."

St. Casimir was among 50 churches in the Cleveland Diocese that was closed or merged because of a shortage of priests, parishoners and money.

St. Casimir will hold its re-opening Mass on Sunday, July 15 at 11:30 a.m.
