CLEVELAND - The East 49th Street Bridge in Cleveland will be closed starting 10 a.m. on Monday because of severe deterioration.
The city of Cleveland said the Cuyahoga County Public Works Bridge Inspection Division found problems with the beams on Oct. 19.
Detour signs will be posted, guiding residents from Fleet Avenue to Interstate 77 north to Pershing Avenue. East 49th Street will be open to local access.
The southbound lane has been closed since July for similar issues with the bridge’s superstructure, the city said.
