CLEVELAND - The Seven Hills man accused of killing a homeless man who had been staying in his home is out of jail.

Frank Dienes, 44, posted $500,000 surety bond on Monday, according to court records.

Dienes pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated murder, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse in the shooting death of Joseph Kopp.

Kopp, 58, was found buried in the woods behind Dienes’ house on Oakwood Drive.

Police said the crime happened on or around March 13.

Dienes’ next court hearing is scheduled for June 2 at 1:30 p.m.

At the Dienes home on Oakwood Drive in Seven Hills Tuesday night, people moved boxes and other junk from the garage to the curb.

As for Frank Dienes himself?

"Is Mr. Dienes here? No. Can you leave?," said a woman who refused to identify herself.

Neighbors hoped they would never see dienes in their neighborhood again. Bad news travels fast.

"My wife's friend had called and let us know about him being out on bond. So my wife says what are we going to do? I says there's nothing we can do. Just wait it out," said Steve Kalnasy, Dienes' neighbor.

On a Facebook page created in his memory, friends of Kopp are outraged by his alleged killers release.

"Bad news," posted Kathy Babich, "the jerk that killed Joe is out on bail."

Ironically, his neighbors feel like prisoners in their own homes.

"Just sit here and keep the doors locked and hold tight till we find out what's going on," Kalnasy said.
