Second victim identified, Cleveland police union president not happy with chief's remarks

Saturday, the Cleveland Police Union held a news conference to provide updates on the investigation.

Throughout the news conference, Det. Jeff F ollmer , Patrolman Association president, kept reiterating that he is not happy with the remarks Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath has made towards this investigation.

Follmer said the association decided to speak out, to show they are in full support of those 13 officers and how they handled what Follmer described to be a "rapidly evolving situation." 

In a read statement, Follmer said two officers heard a shot fired from the suspects' vehicle and described that shot being heard inside the Justice Center.  He then described a chase where Follmer stated it was broadcasted that the passenger of the suspect's vehicle pointed a gun at police and appeared to be reloading. 

Follmer said the officers responded the way they were trained, calling anyone who judged these officers without knowing the facts "ignorant and self serving."

In response to McGrath's comments on Friday, he promised full cooperation and disclosure into this investigation of police procedure and the use of deadly force.

Follmer said "as investigators, we have to take a step back. OK, when this investigation is over, then he (McGrath) can say whatever he wants to say... There's no reason to go on camera and say what they said yesterday when they don't know the facts like these officers that were on scene."

On Friday, McGrath called the shooting a tragedy, saying he was troubled his officers were involved.
