CLEVELAND - A fire on Cleveland’s east side early Sunday morning has claimed a second victim.
Anthony Gibson, 24, died Monday from injuries he suffered during the house fire, Cleveland fire spokesman Larry Gray said. That is the seventh fire-related fatality in Cleveland this year.
The blaze happened in the 1500 block of East 45th Street just after 4 a.m. and killed Gibson’s 19-year-old brother, Michael.
Gray said the blaze was likely caused by food that was left unattended in the kitchen. Gray said fire officials believe one of the brothers was cooking and possibly fell asleep.
There was a smoke detector in the house, but its battery was dead, Gray said.
The brothers did not live at the house and were just visiting.
