CLEVELAND - RTA authorities have ruled that operator error caused a train to derail back in July.
The incident happened early on Friday, July 23, and closed the RTA East 55th Rapid station for some of the morning commute.
According to passenger Scott Thomas, the train’s operator appeared to miss a signal and then attempted to back up the track. The train then derailed as it was in reverse, Thomas said.
According to the RTA, the operator of that train is facing the disciplinary process because she did not follow proper procedure.
RTA said that on June 15 there was an accident involving an RTA train, the incident is still under investigation.
