CLEVELAND - Local residents held another rally and vigil in East Cleveland Sunday afternoon in support of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams.
Both victims were shot to death by Cleveland Police after a high speed chase about two weeks ago.
The chase started in Cleveland and ended in East Cleveland behind Heritage Middle School on Terrace Road.
Thirteen police officers fired a total of 137 rounds at the two suspects. Whether or not the two suspects were armed at any point during the chase remains under investigation. No weapons were found in the suspect's vehicle at the scene.
Local community activist Khalid Samad is still searching for answers to what happened that night.
"Why was it necessary to shoot 137 slugs? It was not necessary. That's abuse of a corpse. You had 2 people dead that were being shot at like target practice. These are human beings. People who are trained don't make mistakes like that," said Samad.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the East Cleveland Police Department and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department are continuing to handle the investigation into the chase and shooting.
