CLEVELAND - A popular sandwich shop announced it’s opening up a new restaurant in downtown Cleveland.
Potbelly Sandwich Shop posted on its website that a new store is going in at 515 Euclid Ave.
The store will occupy a vacant storefront that sits below a parking garage at the corner of Euclid Avenue and East Sixth Street. In the last couple weeks, crews covered the windows and started working inside.
There’s no word yet from the company when the restaurant will open.

This will be the second Potbelly shop to open in northeast Ohio. A restaurant in SOM Center Plaza in Mayfield Heights is set to open sometime this summer.
Altogether, the company has more than 200 restaurants nationwide.
The Chicago-based restaurant is just one of several new businesses opening up within walking distance of the Cleveland Horseshoe Casino, which is scheduled to open May 14. Since the opening date was firmed up, a walk along either Euclid Avenue or Prospect reveals most of the “for lease” signs have disappeared from empty storefronts – even those that have sat unoccupied for years.
Here is a list of others that have just recently opened or are slated to open in the area:
- Colossal Cupcakes / opened March 16 on Euclid Avenue in the Colonial Marketplace
- Cleveland Pickle (sandwich shop) / opened March 12 in City Club Building at corner of Euclid Avenue and East 9th Street
- Nexus Café & Coffeehouse / opened April 2 at 627 Prospect (former location of Caddy Shack Sports Bar)
- Tilted Kilt / scheduled to open soon at the corner of Ontario and Prospect (former Fat Fish Blue location), but appears be delayed
There are also rumors other restaurant companies are scoping out downtown Cleveland locations, but spokespersons for those businesses said no leases have been signed yet.
