BEACHWOOD, Ohio - Phil the Fire is making a comeback.
The once highly popular soul food restaurant in Shaker Square will be opening in a new location in Beachwood -- 3750 Orange Place (the old Houlihans location).
The restaurant closed its doors in 2004 after Cleveland owner and entrepreneur Phil Davis made plans to open a second restaurant downtown—plans that were derailed by a hedge fund manager whose funding eventually dried up and left Davis with no restaurant and tens of thousands in debt.
Seven years later, Davis has worked out payments with his creditors and is re-opening his popular restaurant in Beachwood.
The new Phil the Fire sign went up on Wednesday and the restaurant is slated to open in late July.
