CLEVELAND - A woman trying to cross the street using a walker was killed in a hit-skip crash in Cleveland Wednesday morning.

Cleveland police said they responded to the 17400 block of Lorain Avenue at about 7:53 a.m. for a pedestrian struck.

At the scene, officers found an unresponsive woman lying in the road.

Officers said their preliminary investigation shows the 81-year-old victim using a walker was walking in the street and was hit by a black van while attempting to cross the street.

After hitting the woman, the driver of the van did not stop and continued eastbound on Lorain Avenue.

The victim, Maxine Lobins, was taken to Fairview Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
