NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio - North Ridgeville police have arrested a man for allegedly scamming senior citizens by having them pay up front for snow plow service then never clearing their driveways.
At least eight elderly women in Lorain County said they fell victim to the scam artist. Larry Dolan reportedly offered the women a deal on getting their driveways plowed for the winter for just $75.
One woman said that price was down from the original $100 offer, an apparent "senior discount."
“It was inexpensive,” said victim Joann Kovach. “He had warrants out for his arrest...I don’t know if I would have dealt with him had I known that.”
Dolan is alleged to have told the seniors he would shovel their driveways for the entire winter. Victims told police when the snow came, Dolan was nowhere to be found.
Police said Dolan targeted women over 65 years old. Because of the victim's ages, Dolan faces felony deception charges in court.
