CLEVELAND - Cleveland police said a 10-year-old boy was shot and killed by his 13-year-old brother Monday morning -- and they don't think it was an accident.
Officers said the fatal shooting happened around 6:45 a.m. at a home in the 11000 block of Dove Ave., when they found Cameron Roberts, 10, shot in the stomach.
Roberts was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where police said he died of injuries.
The preliminary investigation showed the victim’s 13-year-old brother was handling a handgun inside the home and the gun shot off, hitting Roberts.
Authorities now think the teen meant to shoot his brother. The 13-year-old has been arrested for murder and is behind bars at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting charges.
Our crew was at the scene all morning where they saw neighbors drop off flowers at the doorstep of the home. Understandably, family members did not want to talk to the media.
The shooting remains under investigation.
