CLEVELAND - A pedestrian was killed in a hit-skip on Cleveland’s west side Friday morning, police say.
Officers said they responded to a pedestrian struck at West 73rd Street and Denison Avenue at about 12:55 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, they found a 55-year-old man unresponsive and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation showed the pedestrian was trying to cross the street when he was struck by a full-sized black vehicle traveling westbound on Denison Avenue, according to police.
They said after being struck by the first vehicle, the pedestrian was then hit by a Chevy Malibu and thrown into the air. The driver of the first vehicle continued driving westbound on Denison.
The victim's identity will be released once a next of kin notification has been made.
The official cause of death will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
