PARMA, Ohio - The Parma Theater has been a fixture in Parma since October 1936. But with dwindling attendance, the theater will be closing its doors forever on Labor Day.
The theater opened as a single screen 1,500-seat theater at the corner of Snow and Ridge Roads. Today it contains three screens within the same building.
Norman Barr, owner of the theater, has been trying to sell the property for some time now.
Since the beginning of 2012, movies were being shown on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only. Monday through Thursday shows have been eliminated due to poor attendance.
There are currently no plans for the property or how it may be redeveloped after the theater's doors are closed.
