CLEVELAND - A paranormal investigator assessed the WEWS NewsChannel5 studios Monday to see if any ghosts are lingering through the building, including the spirit of long-time news anchor Dorothy Fuldheim.

Mary Ann Winkowski, a paranormal investigator from Cleveland who is well known for her work consulting the CBS show “The Ghost Whisperer,” stopped by East 30th Street and Euclid Avenue for an interview on Halloween.

Winkowski said even though people talk more about spirits this time of the year, there is no increase in paranormal activity.

“It’s the same all year. People like to be scared at Halloween. That’s the whole thing about Halloween,” she said.

As she toured the WEWS NewsChannel5 studios, she said she felt some spirits present. The TV station moved into its current building in 1956 --- and there have been rumors of staff members seeing and hearing ghosts inside the building.

“This is a public building. You’re going to have earth-bound spirits here. This is a high-stress building, high-energy building,” she said.

And then Winkowski addressed the question many have been wondering -- is the spirit of Dorothy Fuldheim still present? Fuldheim died in 1989.

“I can assure you Dorothy Fuldheim has left the building. She is not here,” she said.

But she said there are other ghosts wandering around at 3001 Euclid Ave. in Cleveland.

“There’s a couple women running around here. There’s at least three men here. There’s at least one homeless person here. It’s an active place. The more people you have here, the more earth-bound spirits you’ll have,” she said.

Winkowski said spirits can attach themselves to a person and follow them.

She also mentioned that she is releasing a new book called “The Ghost Whisperer’s Cookbook.” Winkowski said it's full of more than 100 recipes she collected from ghosts over the last 35 years.

“The interesting thing is, people are calling me up and going, that’s my Aunt Emily’s poppy seed cake. She’s been dead for 50 years. Nobody had it,” said Winkoswki.
