CLEVELAND - One person has died, and two others have been injured following three overnight shootings in Cleveland.
Within a two-hour span, Cleveland police and paramedics were called to three shootings on both the city’s east and west sides.
Shortly after 9 p.m., officers were called to West 78th and Elton Avenue for reports of shots fired. At the scene, they located a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics rushed the victim to MetroHealth Medical Center where he died from his injuries. Investigating officers determined the victim was involved in a physical altercation following an argument between a group of five other males in two separate vehicles—one black, the other grey. Police recovered a handgun at the scene.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office said Demitrius Levert, 22, of Cleveland as the victim.
Around 10:45 p.m., officers were called to a second shooting near the intersection of East 66th Street and Fleet Avenue. There they located a man who had been shot. According to paramedics, the victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in stable condition.
About 30 minutes later, first responders were called back to the city’s west side for a third report of a man who had been shot. Paramedics located the victim near the intersection of West 30th Street and Clark Avenue before transporting him to MetroHealth Medical Center in stable condition.
No arrests have been made in any of the shootings.
