CLEVELAND - One person is dead after an overnight crash. Cleveland Police said the victim died after a car hit poles on Union Avenue in Cleveland at 3:04 a.m. Thursday.
The preliminary investigation shows that a Pontiac Grand Prix was going westbound on Union above the posted speed limit at E. 75th Street. The car then went left of center across the double yellow lines and struck two poles before coming to its final rest. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The victim was identified as Jerome Richardson, 36, of Cleveland. The official cause of death will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
Cleveland police said they are continuing to investigate the crash.
