Ohio Flags of Honor memorial on display in Cleveland for Marine Week

CLEVELAND - The Ohio Flags of Honor memorial is on display in Cleveland's Voinovich Park throughout Marine Week.
The traveling memorial, which features more than 400 full-sized flags, honors all of Ohio's military personnel who have been killed in the War on Terrorism (from Oct. 2001 to present). Not far from the flags, patriotic music plays, as a screen scrolls through hundreds of names and hometowns of the fallen.
The patriotic flag display is a way to help facilitate fellowship for family, friends and communities who want to pay tribute to Ohio's fallen soldiers.
The Ohio Flags of Honor non-profit organization was established on Oct. 15, 2005 by Gino and Lisa Zimmer, of Columbus, Ohio, after their son was killed in combat. Pfc. Nicholaus E. Zimmer, of the 2nd Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division, in Friedburg, Germany, died in May of 2004, when his vehicle was hit by rocket-propelled grenades in Kufa, Iraq.
Visitors can stop by and photograph the memorial on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
