NewsChannel5 anchor Leon Bibb surprised with honor, thanks from local veterans

CLEVELAND - Following his anchor duties during the noon broadcast, our own Leon Bibb was surprised by a trio of local veterans wanting to honor and thank him.

The veterans from the American Legion Post in Medina came to the studio at 12:30 p.m. to thank Leon for his service to our country, and also thank him for an incredible “My Ohio” piece on the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

Leon was given a book, certificate of appreciation, and a pin as he shook each man’s hand.

While staffers from NewsChannel5 watched the celebration, Leon explained his highest priority when doing the piece on the cemetery was respect. He even paid his respects to a man who was being buried there the day he taped his video.

Leon is a U.S. Army veteran who received a Bronze Star for his service during the Vietnam War.

Congratulations, Leon! And thank you to all who are serving – and all who have served and sacrificed for – our country.
