AKRON, Oh. - Our own NewsChannel5 sports anchor Mike Cairns was inducted into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall Of Fame.
The event was held at 7 p.m. in Akron Sunday.
Cairns joined NewsChannel5 in January of 2011 as a sports anchor and multi-media journalist. His previous jobs included sports director at WRGB-TV in Albany, New York, weekend sports anchor at WJLA-TV Washington D.C., Tee It Up Ohio host and high school sports play-by-play voice for SportsTime Ohio.
His favorite part about working for NewsChannel5? Working with his best friend and NewsChannel 5 sports director Andy Baskin. They have been friends for 10 years and always talked about working together one day.
