Mayfield Heights Marine plays in Quantico Marine Band performing during Cleveland Marine Week

CLEVELAND - The Quantico Marine Band has drawn large crowds at each of its Marine Week performances in Cleveland.

On Tuesday morning, hundreds watched members perform in Public Square. Tuesday afternoon, hundreds more enthusiastically clapped and smiled during their one hour concert outside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Ten musicians wowed the crowd with a wide variety of music, from rock and jazz to rhythm and blues.

The entire band consists of 64 members who are currently stationed in Quantico, Va. No one is happier to have Marine Week in Cleveland than flute player, Sgt. Blaze Carmical, of Mayfield Heights.

“It’s nice being home. All of my family and friends get to come see me play,” said Carmical, a Mayfield Heights High School alumnus. She hasn’t seen her family in nearly six months, when she was home for Christmas in 2011. “It’s very cool to be here in Cleveland to give back to the community for supporting us,” said Carmical.

The Quantico Marine Band will be performing weekdays at 11:30 a.m. in Public Square throughout Marine Week.

You can also catch them on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The band will perform patriotic songs during the halftime show at the Marines vs. Cleveland Police, Fire & EMS flag football game.

On Friday the band will play at Progressive Field, in honor of Marine Night. The band will perform at 6:15 p.m. (before the game starts at 7:05 p.m.), during the seventh-inning stretch and after the game during the fireworks show.
