BROOK PARK, Ohio - Children of all ages are learning what the U.S. Marine Corps is all about. More than 60 kids went to the Brook Park Recreation Center on Monday for an early education outreach program, which was part of Marine Week 2012.

The children sat quietly on the floor, captivated by a puppet show and book reading. They were mesmerized by five Marines who marched in the room wearing various period uniforms from as far back as the War of 1812 to the current uniforms of 2012.

The Marines taught the children how to salute, march and do pushups. The Marine mascot "Chesty" the bulldog aided the audience during several other education exercises.

"Throughout the week you'll see events for people of all ages. This is the Marines' way of reaching out to the community and telling everyone that they're regular people too. Marine Week is a little way for them to give back," said Brook Park Mayor Mark Elliott. "The patriotism at all of our Marine Week events is enough to make our country proud. It's a great message for everyone this week."
