CLEVELAND - Northeast Ohio native Cpl. Jeffrey Boskovitch was honored and remembered during Wednesday’s wreath laying ceremony during Marine Week in Cleveland.
Boskovitch, a member of the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, of Brook Park, was killed on Aug. 1, 2005, along with five other snipers outside Haditha, Iraq.
He graduated in 1999 from Normandy High School in Parma. He finished a law-enforcement program at Cuyahoga Community College and worked with the Geauga County Sheriff's Department.
His mother, Kathy Wright of North Royalton, attended the wreath laying ceremony.
“We miss Jeff. It’s a bittersweet day for us, but the family and community are very support of the Marines. They’ve been there for us from the beginning and we’ll be there for them,” said Wright.
Lt. Col. Michael Hubbard, inspector/instructor of 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, in Brook Park participated in the wreath laying, along with Brook Park Mayor Mark Elliott.
Visitors can watch future wreath laying ceremonies at 1 p.m. on Thursday and Friday on the Ninth Street Pier at Voinovich Park.
