CLEVELAND - Radio recordings have been released of a Cleveland police officer calling for backup after he was shot in his protective vest last week.
A man shot Fifth District Patrol Officer Bob Taylor near Addison Road and Varian Avenue on the city’s east side last Monday morning.
Cleveland police said Taylor was inside an abandoned apartment building when he was shot. One bullet struck his body armor.
He then radioed for help, telling others that there was an officer-involved shooting.

Taylor was treated and released from the hospital later that same day.
The shooter remains on the loose. Police released a sketch of a possible witness a few days later and asked anyone with information to contact them at 216-623-5464.
