BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio - Former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora’s name was misspelled in a billboard featuring photos of the six mayors who have led Bedford Heights during its 50-year history.

The billboard was intended to celebrate the city’s half-century point and is posted along Interstate 271.

On the advertisement, Dimora’s last name is spelled “Dimara.” It's not clear yet if the error was made by the city or the billboard company.

Besides the misspelling, the billboard is causing somewhat of a stir in the city, since Dimora was indicted on bribery and charges in the Cuyahoga County corruption probe while serving as county commissioner. He has pleaded not guilty and has maintained his innocence.

Current Mayor Fletcher Berger defended the billboard, saying we live in a country where people are innocent until proven guilty.

Dimora served as mayor of Bedford Heights from 1982 to 1998 and later became the county’s Democratic chairman. His trial is scheduled to start in January.
