CLEVELAND - Revenue figures released Monday afternoon in New Jersey show August casino revenues were up 12.6 percent in August compared to last year.
The area's 12 casinos took in a total of $313.9 million last month. The figures come just three days after the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland posted gross revenue for the month of August of $22.85 million.
By comparison, the biggest money maker in Atlantic City was Borgata, with revenue of $55.2 million. The lowest of the 12 casinos was Trump Plaza, with adjusted gross revenue of $10.7 million.
Place the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland in the mix and their August numbers would have been smack dab in the middle, coming in just ahead of its Caesars sister property Showboat Casino, which posted adjusted August revenue of $22 million and the new $2.4 billion Revel, which opened in April and posted adjusted gross revenue of $20 million.
Ohio’s two casinos generated just mroe than $13 million in tax revenue last month compared $21.3 million generated by New Jersey’s 12 casinos.
