CLEVELAND - A documentary film crew is working on a project involving Heggs House of Horror -- an Old Brooklyn neighborhood tradition.
His Halloween yard display has grown every year for the past two decades. This year, Luther Heggs added an Alice Cooper character being jolted in an electric chair.
It's the latest addition to what he calls the Heggs House of Horror , located at 1608 Merl Avenue on the southwest side of Cleveland.
Heggs said every year he spends two long days setting up the display right before Halloween. Unlike many decorartors, Heggs only keeps the decorations up for two days. By the day after Halloween, most everything is packed away again for next year.
This year, Emmy-winning documentary producers Bob Becker and Luanne Bole-Becker are shooting footage featuring Heggs and his Halloween traditions -- including interviews with other folks in the neighborhood.
Heggs told NewsChannel5 the display is a huge hit with the residents of Old Brooklyn. He said thousands of kids in costume come to his home trick-or-treating. Traffic on Merl Avenue can also back up on the nights the display is up and running.
It appears many other homeowners in the area are following Heggs' lead. Within several blocks of the Heggs House, numerous other homes are hauntingly decorated for Halloween.
