CLEVELAND - The 12-year-old Cleveland girl who touched a live power line in the wake of Superstorm Sandy is improving at a local hospital.

Gasia Thomas has been upgraded from critical to "critical but stable" at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.

On Nov. 1 around 3 p.m., police got word of the incident at East 130th Street and Iroquois Avenue.

Officials said the current in the wire was strong enough to stop Thomas's heart for at least several minutes.

The young girl suffered from electrical burns on certain portions of her body.

Utility workers said if you ever see a downed power line in your neighborhood to call the power company or 911. Never touch any live wires that are hanging or on the ground.

Superstorm Sandy knocked down trees, power lines and electricity in late October to many in Cleveland and the west side suburbs.
